Ways to protect computers against viruses

The best way to protect computers against viruses are to install anti-virus software. Anti-software protects the operating system, programs and files against viruses. It regularly scans a computer for viruses and then removes any viruses that are found. The software can be setup to automatically check diskettes, internet downloads and emails for any viruses. Because new viruses are being discovered on a daily basis, leading anti-virus software products; suck as Norton Anti-Virus, McAfee Virus Scan, and Dr Solomon’s allow subscribers to download anti-virus updates from their websites to keep protection up-to-date. Another way to circumvent threats are to install firewalls which are programs that allow access to the internet that strictly limits the ability of outside users to access personal data. Firewalls acts like barriers that are put in place to block information that is seen as unsafe and dangerous to the computer system. There are two types of firewalls, hardware and software. Hardware firewalls are specialized boxes that contain customized hardware. When configured, they provide a protective barrier that’s hides your personal information on your PC from the outside world. Software firewalls are installed on Pc’s and they are easily updated. Overall firewalls whether hardware are software still carry out the same job that is preventing threats that exist in cyberspace.
